Go exploring a new layer of Ham Hill’s past with our Roman Treasure Trail.
Can you follow the Roman Treasure Trail and answer these questions? Can you complete all of the activities? Some are seasonal so you will need to visit throughout the year to complete them all. Get outside, have fun and be a Roman for the day! Download the leaflets here:
Having been granted funding from the Prime Foundation, the Friends, working in conjunction with the Rangers and Rocketbox set upon creating an all new children’s trail leaflet ‘Ham Hill Roman Treasure Trail’.
The leaflet encourages children and their families to explore the country park, whilst providing a deeper insight into the Iron Age hillfort on their way round with the ability to ‘win’ gold coins at various locations on the site. Not only does the leaflet centre around the Roman history on Ham Hill but touches upon Geology, Ecology, Geography and even the pre-Roman history of the site, providing hours of fun.
The project also included an expansion of the existing orienteering course at Ham Hill Country Park, so that it covers the whole of the site. This will involve designing marker positions, creation of a new map and installation of new markers across the site.
